What About the Prices of Other Services?

If you receive a positive pregnancy test result at our center, you may wonder about the costs of any next steps, such as an ultrasound or STI/STD testing.

While the average cost of an ultrasound is over $300, you can also receive a no-cost limited ultrasound to confirm your pregnancy at our center. STI/STD testing for chlamydia and gonorrhea is free during your appointment as well.

Evaluating Your Options

After you confirm your pregnancy with pregnancy testing and an ultrasound, as well as protect your reproductive health with STI/STD testing, it’s time to consider your pregnancy options.

You have three options: abortion, adoption, and parenting. Each one has different financial considerations and will lead you down unique paths for the future.

It’s wise to consider each option from all angles to make a choice you feel confident in and will be at peace with for years to come.

Financial Considerations of Each Option

When considering each option, here are some facts to keep in mind.

Abortion Costs

Pennsylvania Medicaid and any plans purchased through the Affordable Care Act do not cover the cost of abortion except in specific cases. If you are considering an elective abortion, you will want to think about the out-of-pocket procedure cost and any related costs, such as time missed from work, travel or parking expenses, follow-up appointments, and anything else associated with the procedure, such as over-the-counter pain medications.

Adoption Costs

Typically, the adoptive family of your choice will cover medical expenses not covered by insurance, legal fees, adoption expenses, and sometimes more. However, you should be confident with adoption before choosing this option beyond the financial aspects.

Parenting Costs

Parenting may be financially expensive over the course of your child’s life. However, there are many programs and services available to help. Alpha Omega Center partners with New Beginnings, a free program designed to help expectant and new parents obtain the items their children will need.

You should also look into insurance coverage if you have none. If you qualify based on your income level, you can apply for Pennsylvania Medicaid.
